Per quanto riguarda le carte,interessante questo accenno di blocco,proprio nel momento piu'giusto..

Blocco che al momento non sembra assolutamente sicuro..a riguardo sono ben accette rassicurazioni da parte dei soliti stratosferici (cloover,burian,albedo ecc.ecc.)

E' vero del blocco, Reading continua a proporlo da 3 giorni e stamane si allinea anche GFS tra il termine dell'anno e l'inizio del prossimo, non so' se hai letto il post su ECMWF.

Non so' quanto possa durare, viene minato alla radice,pero' da monitorare sicuramente.

A questo punto spero che questa ulteriore caduta della AO faccia entrare in risonanza anche il VPS! Se storia deve essere che lo sia fino in FONDO! 8)

A Break from the Extreme Cold

I think the past few weeks across Europe are proving my point about this winter. The "battle" that started with the Hadley Center back when the winter forecasts for Europe were issued has to be centered on when the original forecast was made. Let's keep in mind that they had a top five warm winter coming up for Europe, we had a normal winter in the west via big battles between the cold that was centered over the east and the Atlantic air trying to come back in... And we had the core of cold right where the first attack has been!

I am not declaring "victory" by any means. I just want people to hold them accountable, since they have since moved on to having 2010 the warmest year on record. I am on record as saying we will have a warm Euro summer, though I don't control the books that get cooked with warmth. I will look at the objective satellite guidance, not CRU temps, as lord knows who is doing what with them. Sorry, it's just the way it is. But first things first... Before we start listening to how hot it's going to get, how about explaining why right out of the gate, it got so cold, and why some guy sitting in State College, Pa. can figure it out, but you didn't?

Look, I am mad. The reason is not because I want their job. I just don't want agendas driving the weather. Here in private business, if you are wrong, you get fired. While I don't want that to be the case with Hadley, at the least, when they are wrong, they should explain what the heck happened, not simply march on to the next warm event. Heck, they got to get one right.

But this current siege will let up for a time, but we are still looking at '02-'03 overall with a now moderate El Nino. The difference, folks, may have been the amount of so2 pumped up into the stratosphere by northern latitude volcanoes. The cause for cooling because of this has nothing to do with blocking out sunlight. In the Arctic, it has to do with more particulate being in the stratosphere, which causes warming there, cooling below (troposphere). It is not the same deal as volcanoes in the tropics, which have a much more direct relationship to blocking out sunlight, simply because sunlight is more direct there, and there is more energy in the warm waters below. So if anything, a moderate El Nino centered in the central Pacific that looks like '02-'03 and a beautiful Atlantic tripole for the negative NAO means that we should look for a resumption of cold for the mid- and late winter. It's more or less back and forth now for the next few weeks, though I am wary of the cold coming again by the New Year.

In any case, many people saw pre-Christmas snow this year than in many a year (it snowed on the Riviera!), and with U.S. models still showing the kind of cold I was anticipating for Jan. and Feb. on the way, I see no backing down. The rest of the winter looks a lot like '02-'03, which means more tough sledding, especially mid- and late wint

Joe ha avuto grandi intuizioni già a inizio inverno.Quest'anno abbiamo una concatenazione teleconnettiva di spicco,tra la QBO ed il solar flux,il tripolo atlantico e la criosfera.Penso che abbia ragione,l'outlook del CMT ne è la riprova

Ancora non riesco a crederci...aspettiamo che il tutto arrivi nelle carte entro le 180h e poi possiamo iniziare a capire cosa possiamo aspettarci...

Mi sembra tutto cosi anomalo rispetto agli ultimi anni...

Conferme anche da  da Reading sulla possibilita' di un blocco....piu' viene riproposto e maggiori sono le possibilita' che avvenga....di sicuro nei prossimi giorni non ci annoieremo di certo mi sa'..se non in caso di stravolgimenti assurdi.
